Section 1008.1.8.3 Item 2.2 allows for the placement of a sign stating this door to remain unlocked when building is occupied. What is the height that this sign needs to be placed at and how far away would you consider adjacent. I would start with ANSI standard of 40" above floor, but what maximum would be used? Looking for guidance and suggestions, preferably with code to back it up. Thanks

It does say '... on or adjacent...' so I would try for 'on'. This may be one of those 'common sense' moments we all love so much. Obviously it should be readily visible, and at a height that the average person would notice it - eye level?
