Gentlemen and/ or Ladies,

My brain seems to be playing tricks with me this am and I cannot find the information that I seek. I seem to recall either a municpality or a State Fire Marshal placing a good article or paper concerning the International Fire Code and the use of the subject matter.

Does anybody know of the link or site where I originally found this info?

I would say they can be prohibited by 2009 IFC

Section 308.1.2 prohibits throwing or placing sources of ignition

308.1.5 prohibits open flames near combustible decorative material --the paper of the lantern is combustible, even if fire retardant treated

308.1.6.1 prohibits flame employing lanterns in or upon wildfire risk areas

A safer alternative are tethered balloons with LED lights inside.

There are limits to the number of balloons that can be released at one time.
