As all eyes were on the film industry at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards Sunday night, one actor took the time to remember fallen Los Angeles Firefighter Glenn Allen.

Jack McGee, who played the role of George Ward in the movie The Fighter, said the fallen firefighter recently helped his wife.

While making his way down the red carpet, McGee pushed his wife, Stephanie, in a wheelchair. She was injured in a hiking incident a few weeks ago.

"When Stephanie took a spill two weeks ago and broke her wrist and her hip, there was a fireman by the name of Glenn who responded," he told KNBC-TV.

"He was the one that was in the ambulance that took care of her and comforted her. He told me to shut up and let them do their job," McGee said with a smile.

He said that when he went to the fire station to thank the crew that helped his wife, he found out that Allen was the firefighter who was killed in a roof collapse on Feb. 16 in Hollywood Hills.

McGee -- a former FDNY firefighter who appeared on Rescue Me for three seasons as Chief Jerry Reilly -- wore a black stripe across his badge in honor of the fallen firefighter.

"I'm wearing my badge as fellow firefighters do to honor him today," he said. "This is a moment of greatness for the (film) business, but the truth is that the family of a firefighter lost their dad."
