A few questions for those that have inspected these systems and have systems in place.

1) How often were they spec'd out as part of the HVAC system (allowed) rather then a separate system?

2) Who performs the annual inspections that are required?

3) Is the required backup power part of the required annual inspection?

1. Most of the time

2. yea right, depends on where they are installed

to me it should be a combo of fire alarm system and a hvac company that knows what they are looking at. have seen some third party inspectors that can handle smoke removal inspections

3. normaly the back up power is required for other reasons and should be checked monthly, and to me the smoke removal should be tested with back up power, along with normal power.
