I have a smoke detector 18" above a mini-split heating/cooling wall mount unit, would that be a violation of the 36" horizontal path from the supply register thats on the unit itself, is this unit considered a force air unit requiring the SD to be relocated?

probably not a good place

lopoks like it would be more prone to getting dirty and if hit by the heat, more then likely not good for it either

Is air drawn into or out-of the unit?

If yes, relocate
