Does a solar install kick in the R314 required smoke alarm requirement as an addition? Exception No. 2 is for alteration or repair for plumbing and mechanical systems.

R314.4 exception No. 2 answers the question if you don't remove interior wall or ceiling. So I suppose all solar installs do not intrude into the structure to require R314?

We go with any building permit with a valuation of $1000.00 or greater as a trigger for the smoke and CO detectors.

So yes solar will.
