I am evaluating the possibilities for sound proofing an existing 1-hour fire-wall without impacting the fire rating.
What's you best suggestion for preventing the airborne noise from going through the firewall to the neighboring tenants?

Thanks

You can provide any type of acoustical finish material to an existing fire-resistance-rated wall provided the finish material and construction comply with Section 803.15 of the IBC.

The existing fire-resistance-rated wall cannot be modified unless you modify it to comply with a tested assembly.
