Not where I really want to be
Our automatic spam control has stopped almost 70,000 spammers from registering and watering down our membership. The spam control cannot catch 100% of those trying to register so as a backup, the administrators manually go through those that make it through. Even after that process complete, it is not without fault. Sometimes we still get the sneakiest of spammers that make it through and on occasion, we reject legitimate registrants. The latter usually results in me getting an email asking why they were rejected and most of the time it is legit and we then have them reapply. This morning I had 5 in the queue to go through and all 5 were obvious spammers. Normally 1 out of 5 are spammers. Why am I telling you this? I just wanted everyone to know that unlike many other sites that boast large membership number, we know that those of you that are here are of quality. I feel as though it is extremely important to the viability and growth of the board that we continue to control the membership growth and not have false numbers that make us look busier and bigger than we really are. We have been trending upwards for 4 years at a steady rate and we want to continue our growth while keeping the same quality.

So again, I thank all of the Sawhorses out there that contribute to the the operating expenses of this forum. In addition, I would like to thank the other 2 administrators (RJJ and Fatboy) and all of the moderators that help to keep this forum a top notch resource for the building industry.

If you would like to help support this forum and make sure it is of the quality that we all deserve, please click on the settings link near the top right of the page then go to "paid subscriptions" and join at whatever level you feel comfortable. Thank you for again for the time you all out into keeping the site number ONE

How about deleting the ones who have been here just once....two years ago.

You need to look at 'about me' in the profile, if location and occupation are both listed as the same foreign country... well...

Pretty much. This is why those items have been required to register for about the last year. It another level of protection for us.
