Stand Alone Vending Machines

I have a business entrepeneur that wants to install a stand alone

vending machine, ..in this case, an ice vending machine in our

jurisdiction. It is proposed to be installed outdoors only!

What should I be looking at if allowed? My thoughts include:

electrical, ..a street / E-911 address for any type of emergency,

..parking requirements (?? ), ..a dedicated water meter w/o sewer

line attachment fees, ..ADA issues (??), ..some type of anchoring,

..other?

Thanks for any input!

Just out of curiosity, why not ADA issues?

(i.e. - dedicated parking space, ...signage, other?)

The ones being proposed here would resemble a

structure, albeit a small one?

do you have a siding law, as in what a building can be made of?? Our city had one of these things bricked, because of a masonary requirement

Parking is not a requirement of the building code or ADA, Do you require dedicated ADA spaces for the redbox that is sitting on the sidewalk in front of Walgreens or the newspaper vending machines on the corner

If the vending machine does not meet ADA that is their problem not mine to enforce

Did you see the specs for this thing? Listed for damp or wet location?
 
Health Dept.

Maybe not for the vending machine but for the location where the ice is made and bagged.
 
these seem to be the new rage, they are about 10 ft by say 15 ft, and spit out a bag of ice for less cost and 24 hours a day, or you can stick your cooler under the spout and fill it directly.

it is an automatic system no humans involved.

all the time, but to answer your question, .."no, I have

not seen any specs. or technical info." I agree about

the GFCI requirement. Others?

ADA requires that public accommodations remove architectural barriers in existing facilities. Most states also require POS items to be accessible

ADA-covered facilities that offer vending machine services must ensure that those services are accessible to persons with disabilities. Thus, vending operators serving these sites are required to ensure their services are accessible.
 
When I was audited for ADA by labor & Industry, the guy measured the height of the dollar bill slot on the soda machines from the floor.
 
yes sir. Every one of them. Just never saw anyone measure them. Got hit on the coat racks though. Needed one at 48"

I do not know, but more then likely not.

Probly treat them like coke machines
 
Backflow on the water supply most likely.....discharge to not create a nuisance....make sure they are not messing up any existing accessibility...

Since we do not enforce the ADA, we cannot require the POS Accessibility.

We are using the ANSI A117.1 & the 2006 IBC, so we can enforce the

Reach Range (15"-Low to 48"-High) dimensions.

The Allwise & Knowing Legislators in this state have deemed that

a backflow preventer would not be required, and that each

jurisdiction cannot override their ruling or write new legislative

requirements as such.

The subject of vending machines, permitting (electrical requs.)

them, a possibly revenue stream, blocking sidewalk Accessibility

issues, ongoing maintenance & appearance issues has recently

popped up.

the all knowing plumbing inspector should require a backflow device. Ice machines can harbor some pretty gross bacteria life. Indirect drain for the unit also required .
