Sub panel grounding

When I was studying for my electrical inspector cert the GEC vs EGC was one that took some mind melding to understand. The system vs circuit is a good explanation. A Grounding Electrode Conductor (not to be confused with a Grounded Conductor, aka Neutral) is designed to connect the system to a grounding electrode. The Equipment Grounding Conductor is what is used to protect an individual circuit, and equipment connected to it.
