15,000SF, 2B Construction with 7,500sf of 20' height racks and 7,500sf assembly and shipping. Commodity Class I (metal fabrications/milled parts) IFC Table 3206.2 has 2 options sprinkled/nonsprinkled. IBC TABLE 508.4 has no separation requirement F-2/S-2.

Since rack storage is IFC 3203.2 class I commodity; the sprinkling is an option up to 12,000sf with wooden pallets and corrugated cartons? Does IFC 3207 require an occupancy separation if not sprinklered or is that intended to be an option to limit the sprinklered storage area with a 1hr fire barrier?

3206.5 detection, 3206.6 access, 3206.7 smoke/heat removal are required if not sprinklered. Are these additional requirements simpler and more economical than sprinkling?

Thanks!

You do know it is Friday

I cannot see a part of building sprinkled and the other not, without a fire wall

Have seen very few S-2, more than likely you are S-2, especially if doing high pile

Have to think about the rest.

Sprinkle the entire building, so it can be used in different ways easier.

All metal S-2 milling/manufacturing/assembly...which is rare these days in the USA.

Yes sprinkling is looking like the simplest solution and I am all about simplifying!

Thanks CDA, have a great weekend.
