Is soil termite treatment required for a small greenhouse that has areas in the slab? I cannot find anything that addresses this issue. It seems that treating the areas under the slab would b useless if you have opening areas.

Yes, FBC R318 is very clear on this for residential use such as a greenhouse that is accessory to a primary residence.

Yes, FBC 1816 is very clear on this for commercial use.

Your design professional and licensed contractor should be aware of these requirements.

jar546 - The confusion on my part is that both sections you referenced start with the caveat "If soil treatment is used..", and also references rules and laws of the Florida Dept. of Agriculture. In a case of a small greenhouse with openings in the slab for drainage, and maybe for growing, would it still be required? Sounds like a 'yes', but I wish the code was a little clearer than the 'If' preface.

It's required. We won't even issue you a permit until you sign off you are going to have it done then have to upload the certificate from the pest control company as part of the inspections.
