I know we all wish, hope and maybe even think it's getting better. In Texas, overall we're not doing horribly and in Houston we're pretty much okay ... or, at least that's what I thought.

We had a pre-bid meeting today for a new garage that they will be building at Hobby airport. I was told that we typically had 50 contractors show up. We had to run four sessions with over 50 contractors per session to get everyone through. I overheard several contractors who were saying that they had had only one or two jobs within the last year to year and a half.

Obviously with this being the airport, we're still taking government money. From what I'm hearing the private money is still sitting on the sidelines. I only hope it's better wherever you are.

seems like there is a lot more flapping of the gums going on around here lately! i would like to tell them to put there money where their mouth is ,but i suppose that would be politically incorrect? i think that things are going from deceased to life support now!

Got only one builder in town and he's busy. Dropped prices way down a year ago and been doing a sow steady business. In fact they're supposed to start on 20 homes for winter visitors to be done by Oct. Other than that it's slow. Real slow.

No kidding! I sure am glad that the primaries are today, maybe a few of the demicans and republicrats will stop flapping their jaws for awhile. :D

We're still on life support here. I have rumblings that some of the contractors are moving along down the road. The competition for the small jobs is brutal.

I do have one large commercial project on the table currently. If the contractor would give me a complete set of plans and stay out of my office for a couple days, I might get the plan check finished and a permit issued!

I am slightly, remotely, cautiously optimist that it is very, very, very slowing turning around. I mean we are talking 2-4% across the board on permitting.

But, we'll see. Had a big King Soopers this past year, 125K sq. ft., supposed to be done this fall. Have a cheese factory that is just starting that'll help. $134M valuation over 5year/Three Phase project. F & F for Phase One is going out the door tomorrow at a $5M valuation. I'll take it.

I believe things will begin picking up after the (necessary) political bloodbath coming in November.

Yea, me too because it still sucks here and we have a self proclaimed nerd running for Gov. Maybe that's just what we need a nerd instead of a traditional "tick".
