I thought of y'all when I found out that the Tennessee State Fire Marshal had ordered the closure of the Minister's Treehouse, a gigantic accident waiting to happen. This reminds me of the forum thread about having to tell a facility that their Christmas tree was not code-compliant. It's not easy to protect public safety when everyone thinks you're the bad guy.

I have been to many tourist places that do not meet egress codes. Mines, caverns, ghost towns, they all provided guided tours and limited the number of people in each tour. The same could be done here after the structural issues are addressed.

The fire marshal is a forgiving sort considering that he waited for that tenth floor to go in before he acted.

That's a good point. Part of the "charm" of this place was that you could walk around and explore...no admission charge, nobody around other than the rest of the wandering tourists. There did seem to be some homeless people camped outside, but nobody living inside the treehouse as far as I could tell.

I go to all the classy places. :D

And 19 years under construction! It took a meddler like me (but not me this time!) to get the SFM involved. I'd love to know what motivated her to bring it to their attention, but I think she's in the Witness Protection Program now.

Yea, it's no fun telling a customer that their Christmas tree is non-compliant but having an ability to work with customers to allow them to gain compliance and still have their tree ot tree house is an art in itself :-)

That won't be happening. At least not without spending a small fortune.
