Some time has past since the olive branch extension of the Denver experience. For me, it was great that members from this forum made the trip, listen and perhaps made some new friendships. It is also rewarding to hear ICC made a mistake and offered an apology related to the old BB. All organizations at times make mistakes. The BB was is minor in in the eyes of ICC. They sit far removed from the nose bleed sections of membership accross the country. The inner circle moves to the beat of a drum design to keep the beat the way they want it.
In fact, the drum is beating now to assemble in Charlotte South Carolina trying to bring forth those that can afford to play on the ICC stage. The vast majority of members will not attend and so the mass will be governed by the few. Recently, an email crossed my screen regarding Cindy Davis as chair of a committee to review remote voting. Wow!
A few days after the Minnesota vote I sent a letter on the very subject challenging the Board of ICC to employee this very item. Some may remember my cry for all to vote. Finally they have a group looking at the subject. The excuse then was they didn't have the technology! Well kiss me Forrest Gump! Maybe they are listing?
Either way, the Cow is headed in a path of collapse. Their Model of the business plan is based on the trickle up effect. Some may argue differently and the trickle effect has been debated for years. The origin of the concept comes from a theory from a fellow named Maslow. It has been around a while. Here are a few basic concepts that can and are applied in business models quite often. In fact, business courses teach these theories and one of the most important is Maslow's theory of hierarchy base on the shape of a pyramid. Within the pyramid are several identifying factors such as self-actualization, esteem, love and belonging, safety & physiological needs. These all play into the success of a business. We have all heard the expression "Be all you can be" or be a team player, etc these all stem from Maslow's concepts. We often hear or use such terms not always fathoming the reason behind them.
So is this the focus of ICC? Well! yes! That is the lure to have you join and pay your dues. Take a test and become certified. Boy I am an ICC certified inspector! How can you question me? This has been the carrot and for the last 10 years the money has trickle up. Now the economy and blunders have put the cow on a diet of humble pie. Now thier trying to fix the past. Problem is they are joined at the hip with so many stake holders they are not able to make a decision with out offending someone. So what direction do you think they are going? What will our investment in wonderland be worth in 5 years. I smell a sell out coming and we the membership will beholding some worthless paper. I believe you will see the numbers down at the next hearing! Damage control is number one. It was obvious in the Fireside Chat in Baltimore. It will become even more important as market share shrinks.
End of rant!
