The Wiring of Emergency Lights

I think that everyone knows if a lighting circuit fails, the emergency lights must come on and those ELs must be fed by the same circuit as the light. There are a few other things as seen in this illustration.

I don't think enough attention is paid to the exceptions of that section of the code, especially exception 1 and the changes with exception 2 in the 2011 NEC. Has there been any changes to this section in 2014 and 2017?
