I recall a code not allowing a toilet room door within a (residential) kitchen; however, the best I can find is that it has to be "tight fitting" (certainty an ambiguous description at best.) I suspect that is is not a building code, but a Health Life Safety code. None-the-less, on line, all I'm able to find is ...banter (sigh).

Aside from the resident's "toilet issues" (or lack of); it will come down to the discretion of the local code enforcement agent (at which time it will be too late.) (tried getting an advance ruling; unfortunately, that will take 4-6wks, at best ...not really acceptable for this project.)

Any insights would be greatly appreciated in advance.

If Commercial, in the `18 IBC, ...see Section 2902.3.1
and 2902.3.2 about the location of public toilets and
areas where food is prepared.
