Travels Abroad ....

The Kolsh Gaffe beer was my favorite. I was not impressed with Amsterdam - crowded, to many bicycles, and a very dirty unclean city - It looked like a frat house party the next day.

Bob:

What about these stories about hordes of Muslims invading some European countries, you saw several countries so you should know. I have a customer who goes to Bulgaria several times a year to recruit/manage computer engineers, he doesn't see the problem so I have to wonder if it is the problem the press makes it out to be.

The problem is much worse in Western Europe, especially England and France. In some areas of London you feel like you're the minority when you're speaking English.

I did not see any signs of such events. Not going to downplay them as Muslims live there as well as the United States.Similar to the riots of the 60's , it has hot spots --- and the Rhine River from Basel Switzerland to Amsterdam, Netherlands did not have an signs of problems or issues. Beautiful Country, Great People, and enjoyable culture.

It was great to visit a country where numerous people spoke english and were willing to engage in conversation to improve their skills.

The most surreal moment was in Cologne Germany @ Papa Joe's - They have two mechanical dummies that played the Tuba and the accordian. Somebody played Country Roads and The entire bar sang the chorus in Perfect English while the song was being played by an two mechanical dummies with an accordion and Tuba.

Thanks Bob, so your only unhappy exerience was Amsterdam? Years ago I had a buddy from Chile, when I'd read about problems all over the papers when the socialists were rioting before Allende took over I asked if he didn't fear when he went back to visit family? He said no it was safer than Oakland where he lived, he has now moved to Russia, we had a falling out over a shopping center I built him but I do hope he contacts me some day to hear about it.

part of the federal witness program, besides nobody wants to see a bull dog riding a motorcycle , smoking a cigar, wearing a leather jacket.......

Bob, bring your own cigars, Europeans like dried-out cigars, this got started when the ships carrying tobacco docked at Dutch ports, the Dutch taxed the tobacco based on weight, so the crews piled the tobacco bales on the decks to dry them down in the sun on the trip over, somehow the Europeans grew to like dry cigars, in fact I've had them say to me: "You Americans and your wet cigars."

Like cigars? try Cuba, open spaces, friendly people (only 2 languages), low cost and you don't have to cross the pond. Enjoyed every moment.

it was unique, saw very interesting step designs - wide curbing on sides with narrow step inside.

overall it seemed that more effort was made for accessibility to include opportunities for baby buggies and bicycles to have easier access to all areas - a nation that is dependent upon bicycles as a mode of transportation naturally wake accessibility easier since it is already instilled in their behavior and lifestyles -

Amsterdam has a very unique bicycle that they use for freight and for baby buggies -
