I need some input on the subject of UV Lamps being installed on exisiting residential change outs.

Mechanical Contractors are installing UV Lamps along with new air handler and condensers on residential homes and the question

is this. How far should the Mechanical Inspector go as far as checking to see if the Lamp is wired correctly or should they not be concerned at all?

Should Mechanical Inspectors be opening service panels at all? (Liability?)

There are different variables as to how these "low volt" lamps are to be installed.

Should the Mechanical Inspectors be checking these UV Lamp installations?

The UV Lamps are being installed in the air handler. One maufacturer would be "Tech Pure". There are different ones out there. No electrical permit generally required on a exisiting residential change out. Only if disconnects are changed and breakers.

What protocol is the AHJ using for its Inspectors ?.......A lot

of AHJ's direct their Inspection staff to perform multiple

types of inspections.

Tread lightly here **GETRDONE**.......Try to establish

or maintain a good working relationship if you can.

If someone is looking at the ac install and electrical for that, seems they would bundle and look at the uv?

also, install per manufacture, have them supply the installation instructions
