Verifying Compliance with Base Flood Elevation (BFE)

How does your community manage permits within the 100 year flood plain?

If you had a simple electrical service change to a home in a special flood hazard area, how do you verify its elevation for the new installation?
 
New construction - We measure the geodetic elevations using one of our GPS units.
Existing construction - We use land contour mapping along with orthography provided by our GIS department and a field visit to verify minimum elevations.
