Water supply from one building to another

Can one building supply another building on the same property.

Can a single water service line serve several buildings on the same property as long as all flow demands are met?

Is this described in the UPC?

Our water utility is requiring a separate tap and service line for each building on the property.

Section 609.6 [ in the `09 UPC ] allows it, but the AHJ will normally

have the final word.......It may be a case of them invoking the Golden

[ Water Supply ] Rule.......The Rule: Them that supplies the water

makes the rules for supplying it !

Yes, our water department makes the final decision on compound taps. typically not allowed on new, but have got better about accepting older installations discovered. Used to make them split no matter what.
 
More connections means more tap fees for the utility, and each meter starts off with a monthly base charge. Some allow it if the main service & meter are large enough, others are mainly concerned about the extra revenue.
