Soon we will be able to manage our portion of the jurisdictions web site. We will have quite a bit of freedom to make changes, and add or remove items, provide links. In general pretty much put on it what we want.

I am looking for ideas on what has been useful on your sites or maybe even a link so I can look around. I don't want to clutter it up with useless or redundant information

Maybe you can become an Amazon affiliate and link to copies of the iCodes.

I might suggest a section has a link to the redundant information, ...actual

working links to your various forms, ...maps, and other commonly referenced

information, and of course, the FREE building codes!....Actual, working

telephone numbers to the correct departments is a big plus here!

We are constantly looking for ways to improve our website. We don't have much manpower to throw at it, so it happens slowly. One suggestion - pay attention to the questions you answer time and time again - those just beg for a FAQ page or techncial bulletin.

We are using the KISS method. We have information on our operations, contacts, necessary downloadable (pdf) forms, downloadable (pdf) safety information and useful links.

Our stock in trade is information and the more you give them before they do the work the better. Think of the most common mistakes people make and address those. Perhaps a section on recent code changes such as the new requirements for arc fault, tamper resistant receptacles, smoke and co detectors etc..

The utility companies have great info on their req. and you could provide copies or links.

A section on inspection requirements might be good. Things like the inspector needs a ladder for....and it looks like this. It might cut down on the # of times when the h/o presents you with a step ladder to get on his roof or has no ladder at all.

Don't know if this is an idea that you have in mind;

Enable links to your information and forms with categorized drop down menus this will make the visit to the website layout clean, easier to read and user friendly.
