My plans are in the city for 4000 sq. ft. retirement home that I designed using Chief Architect software. In my design I have a attached 3 car garage tucked in the side. They question my Portal frame design that I copied from a house that was built in the late 1990's. I decided to use the Simpson Strong-Wall system instead of building my own shear wall thinking "Simpson" would give me a free pass. I copied the header(s) size and lengths. Looking for a new 3 car garage portal design 9 foot garage doors, 24" Simpson Strong walls on both sides of the middle car port. The did not fail my Portal Frame they just asked for more detail.
