Well no and no and they don't come with installation instructions do they? That piece of plywood sits on top of the hole. So what's the worst that can happen? It will keep the rats out. It was this or an oven grate. At least this is painted. What gets me is that they built a nice bathroom addition and dropped the ball at the end.mark handler said:

ON a second look, is this part of the required landing at the bottom of stairs? Can't quite tell from the pic, but it looks like there are stairs to the right....
