Maybe now.....

Or now....

Note the rear daycare egress door on the left into this exit enclosure...

Parking lot is plowed...can't open any of the doors.....

Doing annual fire inspections during the winter we find a lot of doors that are frozen shut do to snow melt & freeze conditions.

Mostly newer buildings with insulated foundations, older buildings the snow melts away about 18-24 inches around the buildings

Another Murphy's law in action with regards to energy codes

International Property Maintenance Code

701.2 Responsibility.

The owner of the premises shall provide and maintain such fire safety facilities and equipment in compliance with these requirements. A person shall not occupy as owner-occupant or permit another person to occupy any premises that do not comply with the requirements of this chapter.

Clear POT must be mantained

The fire code also addresses it

1030.3 Obstructions.

A means of egress shall be free from obstructions that would prevent its use, including the accumulation of snow and ice.

Yup, yup, yup. Interesting anomaly about the melt vs freeze condition with newer buildings. Job security for the maintenance folks I suppose.
