Where in 300.4?

Clicking on this picture kicked me all the way out... MC cable with metal studs - protection isn't required.. (but it's a good idea)... MC in wood.. protection is required.

Apparently, the drywall screws know the difference.
 
1/2" drywall needs a certain length of screw to grab the framing member..

The reason I believe the NEC needs to address metal studs is because I've seen drywallers hit a kick plate, then just use more power to push thru.. and no surprise here.. the MC home run had a short.. (because the screw penetrated not just the stud.. the kick plate.. and into the MC)..

OK.. shorter screws..
