What affordable LED rechargeable flashlight would you recommend for your best friend?

I own several types but my favorite is a Stinger C4 LED up to 24,000 candelas, 185 lumens. The Fire Marshal and Building Official thinks it’s too expensive. I notice now there are quite few under $50 but have mixed reviews on the advertised brightness.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

You won't find a cheap good one. We use Surefire and Pelican. Both make great rechargeable lights with a truck mount charger.

I have the Streamlight 20SL LED (big light) in the car and the Strion LED (compact) on the desk. Very happy with both of them. They are brighter than any conventional light. I think it is because the beam spread is much narrower.

However, my go-to light is the Streamlight Twin Task. It has a built-in UV light which comes in handy. About 1 in 10 plumbers are using the UV PVC primer and this light will illuminate the primer nicely even if it's not that dark. I got it in the beginning of the year and it's still going strong on the same batteries. It's pretty darn bright on the "high" setting, but I usually use the "low" setting (it has "high, "low" and "uv")

Edit: I any event, I would recommend a light with the switch on the tailcap. I end up using a lot less battery.. just hit the switch to illuminate what you need and release to shut it off. Also very easy to find the switch in the dark!

Agree, bought my wife one, good tactical torch!

Thanks for the information on UV detection, was not aware of that technique.

Oops. I meant to say streamlight and Pelican. We use the rechargeable one that looks like a maglight. The surefire is mounted on my 9mm. Now that is a bright lite but they won't let me bring it to work.
