The state of Wisconsin is debating moving from the 2015 to 2021 codes for the commercial sector. Of course, increases in construction costs are feared by some for not moving ahead. Best quote: "he’s never had a constituent call asking to update building codes, but he’s gotten hundreds of calls seeking clarification on rules or complaining about building delays."
Since the codes rely heavily on reference standards, an individual Or business will likely spend several thousand dollars to update their library, and spend more on training.
But those is the case for most professionals, who must take courses to renew their licenses. Some program to subsidize these costs would be nice, and have volunteers handle training.
