So all you Won Door experts,,,

If you have a fire alarm system in a building, and the fire alarm system has full coverage of the corridors.

And there are Won Doors installed.

Do you have the fire alarm set up to close the Won Doors, on ANY fire alarm??

OR if the fire alarm system can handle it, do you have them program just the Smoke Detectors near the Won Door, to close the Won Doors????

[F] 907.3 Fire safety functions. Automatic fire detectors utilized
for the purpose of performing fire safety functions shall
be connected to the building’s fire alarm control unit where a
fire alarm system is required by Section 907.2. Detectors
shall, upon actuation, perform the intended function and activate
the alarm notification appliances or activate a visible and
audible supervisory signal at a constantly attended location.
In buildings not equipped with a fire alarm system, the automatic
fire detector shall be powered by normal electrical service
and, upon actuation, perform the intended function. The
detectors shall be located in accordance with NFPA 72.

I think it is 5' and just the detectors near the door activate the door....

There are two options

full coverage smoke detectors

Or kind of stand alone near the door

We have a church that is attached to a private school. There is a firewall dividing it into two buildings, but they wanted nice big openings in the firewall. Well, as big as you can get without going over the area requirements. Naturally, they needed closures, so they went with rolling fire doors. Initially, they were set to deploy whenever anything triggered the alarm. I believe the first week, the six doors needed reset 3 times alone. After this, they reprogramed them to only deploy when the alarm close to them is triggered.

Also, while these might not be a recognized means of egress by the code, closing doors before they need closed does potentially restrict escape from the hazard.

“”rolling fire doors.“”

As in won door

Or overhead door
