As many of you already know, I have a website that I use to teach people about the code requirements related to door openings. On Wednesdays and Fridays I post photos that usually show code violations. When I received today's photo, I swear a little tear leaked out of my left eye. I thought you might enjoy it: http://idighardware.com/2017/03/ww-blackout/, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on how the situation should have been handled.

I can't imagine they were given permission to close them off

But yes, then the signs should disappear also, if the exit is not usable. Can't imagine how they could lose two exits, and still be compliant.

Some designers like to put exit signs all over the place

Even if not required

Big question

That's where my mind went. Unless they were just required based on the occupant load and they have a temporary reduction.

I would agree that most larger buildings I see have more egress than they need by code... But a restaurant/bar typically can't afford to lose 6' of width or more than one door...
