I have a number of facilities that we are evaluating
for [ possible ] use as Community Shelters, in the
event of weather related events or other events that
would require our facilities being used [ i.e. - earthquakes,
civil unrest, etc. ]........We plan to use areas currently
designated as A-3 Occ. Group in our facilities........The
applicable Codes we are using are: the 2012 IBC, IPC,
2010 ADA & 2009 ICC \ A117.1.

Is there a set of published guidelines for the number
of persons per plumbing fixture, ...non-ADA berthing
accommodations, and ADA plumbing & berthing
accommodations [ i.e. - no. of persons per fixture, and
no. of square feet person in berthing areas ]......We will
provide food service, so no cooking requirements at this
point..........Parking will be based upon what is actually
present on-site !

The 2012 IBC \ IPC does not have any Showers
"required" for the A-3 Occ. Group......We have Showers
in our facilities, but I need a published set of guidelines
to use as a base reference.........We are addressing the
use \ substitution of Urinals, as per Section 419.2, in the
2012 IPC.

What Dormitory numbers, ...from where, ...a
published Standard or guide ?

The length of time of a stay will vary greatly
due to area conditions and [ possibly ] number of
civilians; as well as, military personnel being
berthed.

I am composing a file to serve as a base number.
In an actual event, quantities do not realistically
matter [ i.e. - think of the Superdome in NOLA,
after Hurricane Katrina ].

Good stuff here.......Please keep it coming !

I currently have a Rural Fire Department looking to move to an existing pre-engineered building. I am not sure that this building would meet the risk category 4 design requirements set forth buy the 2015 ICC. I am hesitant on letting them occupy this building. Structure is an Armco Steel building built in 1973. the company sold to another which eventually went bankrupt and destroyed all engineering documents. I have asked for a Structural Engineering report. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this.

Normally they just set up

Without regard to facilities

That is what I have seen for years

And basically put the gots out till you run out space, but provide some aisles

based upon our current square footage & plumbing fixture
counts.

I am searching for some applicable Codes & Standards
that will provide data that says we can accommodate XX
number of persons based on what is currently installed.
If \ when an event occurs, it usually turns out to "Manage
In Full Crisis Mode", and get what you can.

Contact your local Red Cross and
See if they have any set up guidelines.

I did a gym once and just went in pre incident and figured how many cots they could handle, just from me seeing past set ups
And the size of the cot

You are on the right track, typicaly relocated buildings meet current code, and change of use also requires a structural assessment
