Type I vent a hood

Type I

More the question because it is a smoker

Does it need its own hood

If it was solid wood burner or charcoal, it needs its own hood automatically

The short answer is yes.

I've seen these before. Based on 2015 IMC, this smoker is a heavy-duty cooking appliance (added to the laundry list) as is the two gas six burner stoves, so they can go under the same hood. The 2015 IMC also changed the definition of an extra-heavy-duty cooking appliance in recognition of this type of smoker. The Alto-Shaam smoker truly does not utilize the solid fuel to cook with, only to smoke with.
