What do you typically require from the sign guy on a electrically illuminated exterior awning?

UL listing
Exterior toggle shut off switch?
Weatherproof requirements?

You haven’t seen awnings that are backlit so they are very colorful at night?

That sounds like an awning and a light (damp location fixture at minimum)...not an "illuminated awning" which sounds like an assembly (one piece) to me, that may need to be listed as such...It's semantics, but that is the job....

Thank you Mark, very good examples of what I'm reviewing. I have seen these lighted awnings used inside like a casinos. The project I'm reviewing is an exterior application, I didn't see an exterior toggle switch on the plan and wasn't sure it was even required.

The plan submitted was very vanilla, said UL label - Standard and was manufactured bu Dualite. Had 72-inch LED strip lights mounted to the exterior wall but they don't look like they are protected other than the awning.

Looking for a little code reference guidance?
