Govt paperwork,,, in the old days you could build a barn in two days

Here, a project like that would take a couple years just to get approval. Then because of all the inspections, safety criteria etc. it would take at least 2 more years to build!

Just look at how fast the Pentagon and the Empire State bldg. were built, today it would take significantly longer to build either those buildings. Just look at the new buildings at the World Trade Center site for example.

Not sure if we've gone backward or forward with all the new regulations and paperwork we have today but I'm definitely leaning towards backward.
