It has an assembly function for determining occupant load, but if the floor area is less than 750 sq. ft. or the occupant load is less than 50, then it is not an assembly occupancy and will be considered either a Group B or the occupancy in which it is located.
If the space is greater than 750 sq. ft., the occupant load is greater than 50, and the space is used for the gathering of persons, then it is an assembly occupancy; however, if the total area of the assembly occupancy is less than 10% of the floor area of the story in which it is located, then it can be considered an accessory occupancy without any occupancy separation, but it is still classified as a Group A occupancy.
As for the common path of egress travel (CPET), the distance for Group A is 75 feet. If the occupant load is 50 or more, than two means of egress are required regardless of CPET distance. For a space to egress through an intervening room, the space under consideration must be accessory to the intervening room.
