Do the doors have to swing in direction of travel?

If they go the accessory route and OL is greater than 50, then yes, two exits and panic hardware is still required.

Accessory occupancies shall be individually classified in accordance with Section 302.1. The requirements of this code shall apply to each portion of the building based on the occupancy classification of that space.​

Agreed, the accessory occupancy route seems easiest here. If the table is bolted to the floor, I would agree that most AHJs would allow you to deduct that area from the calculation.

Agreed, though many AHJs are not willing to do that when the calculation results in more than 50 people.

A 7th floor conference room is less likely to attract a lot of outside visitors than one on the 1st or 2nd floor. A reduction to 49 people would be a reasonable request.

That might be the case in a single tenant bulding. But if this is a multi tenant high rise the tenant my only occupy space on the 7th floor.

This is a building is being occupied by one company but with a few departments split between the floors. Its one building on a corporate campus of many buildings. This is the conference room for the head executive of that department but based on conversations with the owner the building is never at full occupancy since the occupants travel between buildings and other floors or work elsewhere. I can't imagine they would want to use this room for over 50 people when there are larger conference rooms and a 300 person auditorium on the 1st floor.

I think the simplest thing I've read was to just call it accessory and calculate the whole room at 15 SF/person. There are also two doors swinging outward already.
