OK. Almost all of the metal framing for these non-loadbearing partition studs is 25 gauge the door frames, however, are thicker. Can you guess what gauge is being used around the door frames RO?

No clues via paint markings.

My guess, and it is purely a guess, is 18 ga (43 mil).

I do not believe the code uses "gauge" to define thickness of metal products they use decimal or MM equivalents.

The IRC only refers to structural or load bearing walls.

R603.1.1 Applicability limits.
The provisions of this section shall control the construction of exterior cold-formed steel wall framing and interior load-bearing cold-formed steel wall framing for buildings........

2018 IBC
2211.2 Nonstructural members.
For cold-formed steel light-frame construction, the design and installation of nonstructural members and connections shall be in accordance with AISI S220.

No, but AISI does...

2021 IRC R603.2.3 Dimension, Thickness and Material Grade

Load-bearing cold-formed steel wall framing members shall comply with the dimensional and thickness requirements specified in AISI S230, Section A4.3 and material grade requirements as specified in AISI S230, Section A4.4.

2021 IBC 2211.2 Nonstructural Members

For cold-formed steel light-frame construction, the design and installation of nonstructural members and connections shall be in accordance with AISI S220.

Anybody can guess… Wendy guesses 50… because that’s two times 25. When told that she was supposed to guess correctly she correctly said that’s not what he said. She also wants to know if there is a prize. What should I tell her?
