Hi everyone,
Can anyone help me with a quick question? We are building an R2 building, I know the entrance door (connecting dwelling unit and stairwell) for every unit should be fire-rated. But I couldn't find the code for the building entrance door, (connecting the street sidewalk and the stairwell). Can anyone help me with this question? Thanks!

Please post a plan. Normally, the exit discharge doors from exit stairs do not also serve as the building's main entrance.

I suggest that you study Chapter 10 of the building code.

The images worked for me.

You should hire an architect. Your stairs don't need to be 2hr for three stories and the walls don't need to be steel studs. There are other issues with the drawings, e.g. impossible bathroom geometry (2-0 & 2-4 passage doors???) and dimensions that should not be on plan views, etc. It's very clear whoever drew this has not ever created construction documents before.

The rating, if any, depends on the fire separation distance; see Table 705.8 for the allowable percentage of unprotected opening area. Since R-2 is sprinklered, as long as the door faces the street and is at least 20' from the street centerline, no rating would be required.
