Shower Tile Question

We've had a lot of ceramic tile in our walk-in shower (1st floor) that has cracked. Usually from a "hard" mopping of the shower.

Appears there is no "backing" on the bottom sections of the tile and a gap / space along the bottom edge.

Should there have been material or some sort of back-up to the tile here?

Can anyone share a code or reference so I can work with our builder?

We have a 10 year warranty on workmanship and this ends in 2025.

Thx all!

Peter

This is California code but you are in Florida. Perhaps someone from Florida can help out.

Note that the pan liner shall extend a minimum of 3 inches above the top of the threshold. So the backing would also.Screen Shot 2024-11-12 at 12.28.40 PM.png
