Must have Residential Building Official certification
Is the RBO a State of Connecticut certification?

The population is 20,000 with a municipal budget of $181M. It seems odd that there would be a Residential Assistant Building Inspector. More likely it is a one man show.

Not if you want it done right.
I had a city of 45,000 working for LA County B/S.

A little town less than half the size would be a cake walk, I'm talking two hour lunches.

I had a city of 45,000 working for LA County B/S. I was the permit clerk plan checker for every small project and the inspector. I did it for five long years. There was another employee that was in charge except that within a month of my arrival he was in the wind. He came in every few days to do the deposit. I went for weeks without seeing him. So I guess I was in charge.

The things is, the County management were fully aware of his absence. Towards the end of my time there, I was asking for help. When help didn't arrive I asked to transfer. The bastards said, "We can't move you, you are the one holding it all together."

That was my first five years as an inspector. I didn't have time to stop for lunch and was on the run constantly. I was writing corrections on my way to the next inspection. That drove people crazy.

I came away from that stint with a reputation. What I didn't know was that the guy that did the deposits was stealing a lot of money. He had been assigned to that city for 15 years prior to me showing up. When he discovered my talent he went off the deep end.

Well, we all know LA doesn't care if the job gets done...
