I've searched, but can't find an answer.
ICC A117.1-2009
When multiple Type B units are provided, can some use Option A (all bathrooms must comply) and others use Option B (only one must comply)? Thanks.

1107.1 Design. ........units required to be Type A units are permitted to be designed and constructed as Accessible units. Units required to be Type B units are permitted to be designed and constructed as Accessible units or as type A units.

I do believe you can mix and match units in the building....Obviously just not within a unit....

Thank you for replying but not quite what I'm asking. The Type B unit bathrooms are allowed two options, Option A and Option B. Perhaps they should use Option 1 and Option 2 but regardless, what I'm trying to confirm is if it's possible to say this Type B unit's bathrooms will follow Option 1 (all bathrooms will provide a degree of accessibility) and another will follow Option 2 (only one bathroom needs to provide increased accessibility by way of slightly more stringent standards than Option 1).

Type B unit #1 can go option A and Type B unit #2 can be Option B...Is that what you are asking?

E.g., 8 total Type B units, each with 2 bathrooms. Can 4 of the units have one of the bathrooms conform to Option B with second bathroom standard and the other 4 units have all bathrooms conform to Option A? From a design standpoint, there is more flexibility such as permitting a WC to be within the clear floor space of a bathtub. I can't find anything that prohibits mixing the two options across all units as long each unit is either completely Option A or Option B.

as long each unit is either completely Option A or Option B.
Correct....As 1104 is the "unit" (single) section it only applies to one at a time....(emphasis added)

1104.11.3

Either all toilet and bathing areas provided (in a unit) shall comply with Section 1104.11.3.1 (Option A), or one toilet and bathing area(in a unit) shall comply with Section 1104.11.3.2 (Option B).

There is no requirement for all units to be identical. Each unit, considered on its own, needs to meet the applicable requirements.
