Then its yours to sell. No disclaimer necessary. You are not selling an "instrument of service," you are selling a piece of art. Definitely don't disrespect the drawings by marking them up.

Ridge Vent near Common Wall of Townhomes

In CA, 2010 CRC. Townhomes, at the common-wall, where extends up thru attic to bottom of roof sheathing. The code is silent on whether penetrations are permitted in the fire retardant roof sheathing 5/8" type x gyp. when using that exception. (see below). Questions: 1). Is a continuous...

    My first SIP house :(

Sounds fun to me. I would not approve the permit without a set of plans. But I would see it as an opportunity, not a problem.

    CASP requirments

I agree with this. But looking at the other side of it, I don't see any advantages to a Dept having a CASp certification. Or perhaps there is an advantage that I am unaware of? Would the certification bring some sort of actual authority on accessibility issues that you didn't already have as a...

    CASP requirments

My comparison to LEED-AP... The CASp manual includes some sample questions. Page 10. http://www.documents.dgs.ca.gov/dsa/casp/CASp_Handbook_Rev_05_02_12.pdf Why pay $1600 to prove you can answer those multiple choice questions? Any competent inspector, building official, plan checker...

    CASP requirments

I think CASP certification and renewal is expensive and unnecessary for a local building dept. Application fee - $500 Examination fee -$800 Certification fee -$300 Total initial certification=$1,600. But also renewal, that is another $500 every three years. That does not include the cost...

    Indoor Skatepark

It is the architect's job to determine occupancy and code analysis. Plans examiner determines if compliance has been sufficiently documented, not the other way around. Worries me that you had to give them Ch. 34. What about all the other chapters? Sounds like no architect on this job.

    Don't see this requirement either.

Egress Requirements for Students with Special Needs

Just smile, nod, and back away... Not something I would want to give any advice on. What they do after I leave is not any of my business. I am sorry, but that is just how it is in the world. This type of issue is beyond my scope of work. I want to see code compliant egress, not an invented...

That is the answer. Manufr installation instructions. A copy should be kept with the job site plan set.

    Pocket Door: Accessible Privacy Latch

So they must be claiming accessible because it is just up and down motion, not twisting, but does seem to involve pinching...hmmm

    Pocket Door: Accessible Privacy Latch

Only one here. So it's gotta be accessible as Mark states. That Trimco 1074-2 looks pretty cool, seems like there could be more products like this.

    Pocket Door: Accessible Privacy Latch

See what I mean about the Trimco product, anyone from either side of the door can "unlock" it...doesn't provide real privacy.

    Pocket Door: Accessible Privacy Latch

I think this is the general thing one would find, but it is not actually a privacy latch, since the tilting action is done from both sides of the door...

    Pocket Door: Accessible Privacy Latch

A better look at that Kwikset product: http://www.kwikset.com/Products/Details/Accessories/335-15.aspx I wonder if that throw could not be replaced with a larger paddle...farmer idea.

    Pocket Door: Accessible Privacy Latch

I had this come up at a site inspection where they are installing a fitting room at a retail store in CA. So, accessibility per CBC 2010, Ch. 11B. And it has a pocket door. No problem there. They were smart and installed a bumper to hold the door out of the cavity enough to have a proper pull...

You just need to follow their written instructions for glazing installation...not a problem.

Thanks all. The temp rise is not req'd since fully sprinklered NFPA 13.

Glazing in 60 min. Stairwell door

Thanks, you've confirmed that the particular case I am referring to does not need to be part of the tested assembly, since it is less than 100 square inches.

Glazing in 60 min. Stairwell door

3 story Type V-A R2 apartments in CA, 60 min rated door to stairwell, 4x24 inch vision glazing. Question: Does glazing need to be installed as part of the UL listed assembly for the door? Sometimes the door is shipped preglazed, other times just a door with a hole in it. Local glass shop...

Structural Insulated Panels(SIPs) in Type III-B Ext Wall

I would start with Peach's approach. It does not work as IIIB, but maybe a type VB. But that is the Architect's job to present to you.

Romeo Balcony not allowed on R1??

I agree with your opinion, but even more I believe this design would comply as an emergency escape, as long as door size meets the balcony rail was no more than 44 inches above finish floor. It is not really a door, but a window that one may stand within. Does he also require a closet to be...
