2015 IECC/IRC Mandatory Blower Door Testing

I would make it optional if I could. We've been requiring the duct-tightness test and blower door test for a couple of years here now. There are several companies that have sprouted up that make a report to be submitted with the permit and conduct the tests. I'm not sure how much it adds to...

First year CBC required contrasting stripes on stair nosings?

I'm guessing this is a California only requirement. It has never been a code requirement in Ohio. Is it required on all accessible stairs? If so, it seems like overkill IMO.

Clearance @ fire stair tread and door

If the stair is ascending or descending perpendicular to the door, and the door is out-swinging, the required handrail extension may determine the minimum distance.

2015 IBC Section 1014.6 Handrail Extensions

The 12" horizontal at the top is clearly required on a single run new stair. Howerver, from your description, the horizontal extension as designed is 7". Will 5 more inches really make a difference?

what do you think of PVDF ACP Panel

To answer whether they should be considered "green", I would ask are they recyclable? The aluminum portion maybe, but what about the PVF layer? What is the difference between these panels and the ones that catch fire on highrises in Dubai...
