Can a Furnace Closet Serve as a Return Plenum? Here’s What the Code Actually Says

The other item to note is to my knowledge, there is no condensing furnace made with a metal intake and exhaust.

    Return Air in Laundry Room

A return air alone would cause a deeper negative pressure for both gas and electric. Make-up air for combustion would come from the make-up air provided to the room for the gas required by M614.6

Tap off of domestic water in place of jockey pump

It is apparent by the size it is tapped into that it is a large building. I am only speculating what it is used for. Since it is tapped into the sprinkler and only a 3/4 inch line it is used to keep the system primed. Perhaps if you had taken the pic from the other side, we could have read the...

Tap off of domestic water in place of jockey pump

I would say used to keep prime. It appears to be 3/4 inch copper line and at 52 psi with a velocity of 6 feet per second it would supply about 12 gallons per minute. Even though there is a double check valve installed, I would think it should have a reduced-pressure vacuum backflow preventer.

2024 NEC Change for AC Disconnects

This would pertain to the actual "service disconnect"; the other would be the emergency shut-off switch in case the room was filled with smoke or other egregious issues preventing your access to the service switch that is required to be within reach of interior equipment. NEC 422.31a

2024 NEC Change for AC Disconnects

The switch at the top of the stairs is not a disconnect with a door; it is not required to be serviced while energized, so there is no need to lock it. NFPA 31 10.5.1 covers the switch requirements, but is not universally required in IMC or IFGC etc.

Condensate Traps — Why Manufacturer Instructions Matter

Critical on rooftop units when the coil is on the negative side, the trap has to be designed to overcome the negative pressure of the blower or water will back up into ceiling ,ducts etc.
