    National Electrical Safety Code

BSSTG, If you visit the NFPA web site, I am told that you can join for free and then have access to all of the NFPA Standards. I have not actually done this yet, but that is what I am being told by our Fire Service personnel. Maybe, someone on here has a copy that they can send to you...

    V-A vs V-B

cburgess, Another Welcome to the Building Codes Forum to you! Instead of applying gyp. board to both sides of the framing, is it feasible / realistic for them to provide some other type of material to achieve the "V-A" rating? Possibly, a fire rated ceramic type of coating. We allowed a...

A House Made of Mostly Windows

Interesting structure! Looks like more of a work of art than a functional, day-in, day-out residence. I'm thinking all that glass ain't going to provide much thermal insulation in them West Virginia mountain winters. Verdict: Non-habitable! .

    Freelance Work

MASSDRIVER (and others), Thanks for your input! I have found the time to Freelance when I am not working my full time government job, plus, ..not in the same jurisdiction where I am employed. The income generated is limited only by what the customer is willing to pay for. Uncle Bob, I am...

    Outdoor Spaces and the Code

If the Outside Areas are realistically considered to be part of the Dining Areas inside, then yes, you need a total occupant load for both areas. Parking, restrooms, Means of Egress capacity & routes. Your Event Use Areas would be an Accessory Use. .

    GFCI cover

IMO, I would cite the applicable NEC Article that is actually enforceable, to require the In-Use type of covers. Let the AHJ provide documentation that they are not required. Put the challenge on to them! .

    Freelance Work

Greetings to all! I have been approached to perform some freelance work on the side (i.e. - some minor inspections, some code consultation & documentation, etc.). This request could possibly turn in to something more substantial down the road. The request is for an existing Residence that...

    Acoustical isolation on ABS/DWV

Jash, Welcome to the Building Code Forum. In looking at Table 3.2 from the 2010 California Plumbing Code, and regarding the use of DWV, ..Table 3.2 states "to support at mid-story locations". In your submitted pics., the DWV piping appears to be installed neatly / close fitting to the...

    Sad to hear

The U.S. of A is now experiencing what the rest of the world has been experiencing for decades, ..dictatorship by the elected politicos, and the rich & powerful. Also, if you are thinking about voicing your concerns & displeasure with the government, the NSA has word recognition software in...

    Trash Dumpster Pads

Mech, Thanks again for your repsonse and input! The F.O.G. wastes on the surrounding asphalt appear to be coming from the result of the company reclaiming them, and being sloppy with their collection process. There is a F.O.G. receptor in the enclosure itself, but the clearances inside the...
