    CONRAC & QTA BUILDINGS

Interesting. Any chance we could talk?

    CONRAC &QTA Buildings

I'm not sure about how the exterior wall will be arranged. The ones I've seen online appear to be both open and closed. Again, I'm not sure. Yes, ventilation is mandatory and was included in the proposal. The fueling is a wild card. That's why I'm reaching out to the other members.

Floor Drains In Mech. Rooms & Other Spaces

I do code review for NJ, NY State and NY City: Question #1 then 3: Yes. Trap primers. I noticed that janitors are using Swiffer instead of a mop and a bucket of water. No wonder why these rooms smell so bad.

    CONRAC & QTA BUILDINGS

I'm looking for feedback related to Consolidated Rental Car Facilities (CONRAC) and Quick Turnaround Buildings (QTA): Anything and everything related to codes and standards that are applicable. I'm more interested in the QTA than the CONRAC building because of the nature of having fuel...

    CONRAC &QTA Buildings

Thanks for the input and I'll be sure to check out the IFC. This is a New Jersey job. Typically, everything I've seen is one story/on grade. This is a new concept that a lot of airports with rental car agents are operating. My search on the internet hasn't reaped any details about codes and...

    CONRAC &QTA Buildings

The QTA building is used by multiple rental car companies to prep the rental cars so there are more than one floor. The cars are washed, vacuumed and fueled at this facility depending on which level the rental car company occupies. I've read that each rental car company has their own underground...

HVAC: Isolation smoke damper - '68 NYC Code

It is. But, when you add "isolation" to it, you get all kinds of interpretations. That's why I'm posting. I'm trying to flush out as many interpretations as possible.

HVAC: Isolation smoke damper - '68 NYC Code

CDA- I'm wondering where they are too! Isolate indeed. I was thinking that the HVAC equipment was being isolated by the isolation damper(s).

HVAC: Isolation smoke damper - '68 NYC Code

Great Find! Leave it to Greenheck to mention an isolation damper. I have wondered about the origin of that diagram in NFPA 90A before. That's a good idea about investigating the NFPA standard. I will definitely check that out.

HVAC: Isolation smoke damper - '68 NYC Code

That's good advice but the codes don't tell me where and how to install an isolation smoke damper. That's the purpose of the post. I appreciate your input especially under these vague conditions. Thank you.

HVAC: Isolation smoke damper - '68 NYC Code

I do have the link plus the hard copy of the 2008 and 2014 code. The citations between the codes are very similar but the interpretations that can and will be made vary infinitely.

HVAC: Isolation smoke damper - '68 NYC Code

That's a good question. From what I've heard, It's still being used in select locations.

HVAC: Isolation smoke damper - '68 NYC Code

If it was for a hospital setting, then what would be required for isolation smoke dampers. Sorry for the vagueness, this post is to flush out information from anyone who knows how to install/ when to install "isolation smoke dampers" in NYC and any exclusions when an isolation smoke damper is...

HVAC: Isolation smoke damper - '68 NYC Code

In the 1968 NYC Building Code, there's a reference to "isolation smoke dampers" that is causing a bit of a stir. What is an isolation smoke damper and where must it be installed? I'm not sure why the '68 code is being used in this case but it is. Even the 2008 and 2014 NYCMC (IMC based codes...

    WELCOME NEW Members!

Hi. I'm new to the forum and I'm glad that it exists. I am a plan reviewer of mechanical and plumbing systems for the NYC metro area. I'm new to plan reviewing since I've been doing mostly HVAC and some plumbing design work. I like being on this side of the drawings and I know there is a lot of...
