2 x 6 Stringer with Triangles

Is there code which specifies what dimensions of lumber is used for stringers? I realized there is a minimum depth from the inside corner cut to the back of the board but that doesn't exactly rule out this application. This is at 1968 apartment complex in Indiana. Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, we have almost nothing to go on for stair stringers whatsoever even in new construction... For existing stairs at an apartment complex, the only thing you can really do is eyeball it, step on it, jump up and down, and then decide whether it's dangerous enough to make them either fix it or get an engineer to say it's fine - and then decide if you trust the engineer...

IRC 2018 deck stair stringer spacing code?

I am working on some deck stairs and while I see a bunch of stuff online that says the max space between stringers is 18" I am not successful finding the relevant IRC 2018 section if any. My stairs are 6' wide made of 2x6 planks and wish to use 3 risers but not sure if up to code. Thanks

The code specifies what load a stair has to support, and the stair stringers and steps have to be designed to support that load. An apartment would come under the IEBC and IBC, so there isn't any prescriptive answer. The only answer is "Design to support the load."
