Would the code allow an additional parking level below grade plane as long as entry is on grade level? So, 2 levels of 1-B (construction type) S-2 parking with only 1 above grade plane parking and then 5-A (construction type) R-2 group above. Separation between parking and R meets code, full sprinkler protection. Thanks all.

2006 IBC 509.4 (Parking under R Groups)

509.2 permits the below grade level of parking.

Unlike 509.2, 509.4 makes no requirement for the number of levels below the parking/residential separation. The number of basement levels is not limited.
