Does 2018 IBC 1027.5 Location mandate a minimum 10' between the walls of the exterior stair way in plan? I understand the 10' area vertically along the wall the stair but this is written to sound like you can't have 8' between doors.
3story R-2 occupancy type VB fully sprinkled.

I just had a project with a similar situation, assuming the pathway in your situation is an open-ended corridor (i.e., enclosed at the ceiling) and is not open to the sky. I treated both walls as 1-hour fire barriers as required for interior exit stairways per Section 1023.2 but with 3/4-hour unit entrance doors per Table 716.1(2) as "Other fire barriers." The B.O. might require 1-hour openings and treat that as a variation of an interior exit enclosure with each unit entrance door considered an exit.
