I am a little confused regarding the Unlimited Area Building section related to A-1 and A-2 requirements below:1669213513434.png
Let's ignore A-1 for the moment, as I am more interested in a cafeteria or similar space (Assembly A-2 space that does not meet the 10% Accessory Use requirements) that would be located on the upper floor of an office building, i.e. mixed with a B Use. The building is a Type 1A so how does one determine the allowable area per Section 503.1 (item 2 above) when it is unlimited?

Secondly, do horizontal exits at the ground floor meet the requirements for discharging directly to the exterior required by item 3 above?

You said the construction type is IA, which has unlimited area per IBC Table 506.2; thus, anything in Section 507 is unnecessary since you already have an unlimited area building.

Section 507 is provided to allow certain buildings to have unlimited area, contrary to IBC Table 506.2, under certain conditions.

I was just about to ask the question this way, since I have a IA Construction Type do I basically have an unseparated use so long as I can make the egress (based on occupancy) pencil out?

Yes, with Type IA construction you have by default nonseparated occupancies (you can separate the occupancies if you are into unnecessary torture). However, the rest of the code outside of the allowable area and height, is still applicable, including means of egress.
